How to Choose the Best Speakers for Your Event
One of the biggest mistakes people make when planning events is choosing speakers based on their personal preferences instead of their audience’s needs and the events outcomes. Just because you love a communicator doesn’t mean your attendees will connect with them.
The right speaker should serve your audience, not your ego. They should bring value, not just name recognition. I’ve seen so many events invite someone “big,” only to have that person share a message that had nothing to do with the event’s purpose. It might be cool in the moment, but it’s actually a distraction from the outcome you want. It's easy to miss the mark on this.
Sometimes the best speaker is you. Sometimes it’s a local leader. Sometimes it’s someone who is great at connecting with your audience, even if they’re not famous. The question isn’t, “Who do I want?” Or “Who Moves Registrations. It’s, “Who will serve the people in this room?”
Your key note speakers can elevate your event or derail it. Choose people who move your audience forward, not sideways. If you are looking for a motivational speaker or an inspirational speaker. There are lots to choose from. But which one will fit best?
Find one someone who is authentic and lives the message they teach.
So many people get caught up about the line up and forget the heart of the entire event.
Bring it back to the original vision. Some times the most high profile famous speakers do not serve your overall event.
