Two Types of Events Every Organization Needs
Mobilization happens through two primary strategies:
1️⃣ "Go & Tell" Events (Outreach Mobilization)
These events bring your mission to the people. Instead of waiting for them to find you, you show up where they are.
✅ Creating an event for people to learn more you and gain something in return.
✅ Host strategic gatherings in target cities.
✅ Creating MeetUp Experiences for similar orgs and potential partners
✅ Organizing a trip to invite people on.
Example: When we launched The Send, nobody knew what it was. We had to create a massive two-year plan filled with hundreds of outreach events to build momentum before the main gathering. The result? Tens of thousands of people mobilized through Send Experience Nights.
2️⃣ "Come & See" Events (On-Site Immersion)
These events bring people into your world. They give them a taste of what you do so they can experience it for themselves.
✅ Create and host a strategic summit
✅ Short training intensives
✅Onsite Tour of your Organization
✅ Leadership summits at your base. Become a local expert.
✅ Online Training
Example: I considered working for YetiCoolers at one point in my life. Before even applying, I was taken on a tour of the office, shown products, signed an NDA on what I saw, met other employees, and got to see first hand behind the scenes of the company. It was worth my entire trip to Austin, Texas.
Oftentimes, we are planting seeds that time to grow to fruition. By creating events you planting several seeds of opportunity that can help grow your organization immediately and for the long term.
Which one is your organization missing? If you’re not actively hosting both types of events, you’re leaving impact on the table.
